The Potala Lhasa, Tibet

On the way up the hill.... nice views over the Lhasa Valley, featuring "Red Square", located directly across the street. There are squares like this in every city we visited in Tibet, each containing a stark, rather phallic monument to communist China. At the bottom of the photo you can see the main entrance gate to the Potala, and the lower, inner administrative buildings of the Potala complex.
