Our room was off this courtyard, which was closed in by a HUGE bolting door at night. All the scarves were brought by pilgrims to the Kondro-la as respect offerings. During the day, there was a steady stream of pilgrims in the courtyard waiting to pay their respects to the Kondro-la. To the right was the Kandro-la's quarters, to the left the communal room we were in for several previous nights, and forward is our room, behind the curtain. Our room was also the pantry/store room for old butter offerings. Cozy, huh? These are typical Tibetan style beds with the carpets on top.
