Linky and Alexa, Oregon Country Fair
My good friend and all around amazing woman Linky Dickson, performing with Alexa Woodward at Oregon Country Fair in '09. Alexa is a very talented songwriter with a beautiful voice and good banjo picking skills. Linky sings backup, plays washboard and lends all her other many musical talents to the mix! Together they make uniquely wonderful music!
Hobo Hotspings...
in Saratoga, Wyoming. This as a great spot to know about, as access is free of charge. Very clean and clear water with a beautiful view of the distant Medicene Bow Mountains. There are natural hot springs here, where hot water bubbles out into a cold running creek. They have piped some of the mineral water into a large cement pool with a natural stone bottom. Usually very quiet, especially early in the morning when you often have the place to yourself.

Chinese temple
The wettest highway...
In Bangkok the Chao Phraya River is used like a superhighway. Goods of all sorts are taken from the middle of Thailand, down through Bangkok, and on to the Bay of Thailand, and vice versa. Here is a view from our balcony..... Logs being floated to their final destination. If you click on the photos you can see them enlarged, and in this photo you can see people crawling on these logs, helping guide them.
A Hindu temple on the Bangkok streets
We saw this beautiful place on another food foray in Bangkok. We wound up eating at a small street vendor across the street from this temple. Nothing but a small table set up on the sidewalk, but a whole family willing to cook and serve us anything we could name! I do not know the name of this temple, only that it is Hindu, and during the day I have walked by here and seen it PACKED with people, offering prayers and burning MAD incense! Just as lovely lit up in silence at night as it is in the daylight, alive with the pulse of pilgrims.

Walking the greasy streets of Bangkok
Good thing we were headed to some of the best Indian food I've personally ever had! These streets are toxic!! Between the dangerously high levels of air pollution and the thick, slimy layer of grime on the streets themselves, walking in Bangkok can leave your head spinning!! Mmmmmm.... oxygen anyone?
At Huan Phing Pou Guesthouse
On the morning we left Chiang Mai headed for Bangkok. This was a beautiful, brand new guesthouse. One of the more comfortable places I have stayed in Thailand! Also one of the most expensive, but it was pristine! Run by kind and friendly folks who made our stay all the more memorable!! Always sad to leave this fun and vibrant city. Each time I come here, I uncover a little more of it's interesting charm!
Neighborhood chedi
An old structure on the corner of our street in Chiang Mai. A chedi could be a number of different things. Usually they are built around a relic of, either Buddha himself (as legends say), or another, very holy and significant person. Typically housed inside a monastic complex, it is common to find very old Chedis scattered amongst modern buildings and neighborhoods in many towns in Thailand.
